BALLET NIGHTS
LONDON, UK
Ballet Nights is a London-based startup that presents dance talent from around the world in a 2-part variety show format. Hosted by Jamiel Devernay-Laurence (former Scottish Ballet dancer himself), the performance presents an intimate variety showcase of some of the most acclaimed classical ballet, neo-classical ballet, and contemporary dancers from around the world. Our goal was to spread the word of the new format and bring ballet into the modern day.
MY role:
Logo & Branding
Programme booklets
Show posters
Website mockups
Digital assets
Logo, Typography & Branding
I was tasked to give Ballet Nights a ‘New-Age’ feel - something that combines the feel of Tesla and Formula 1. I utilized wide text kerning and a simplistic, silhouette approach to attempt to achieve this feel.
Typography: Montserrat Extrabold (logo font), URW DIN Condensed (main header font in marketing)
show Posters & ooh marketing
For each show, I created posters that were distributed in multiple sizes throughout London’s Underground train stations, London malls, the Metro & Camden newspapers.
Programme Booklet
I created & designed the booklet that was sold at the shows. This 60 page booklet showcases the talent that performs in Ballet Nights, lists the programme lineups for each Autumn Season show, as well as some sneak peeks at the work going on ‘Behind the Scenes’ of Ballet Nights.
Lanterns Studio venue design & show passes
I had the opportunity to set the stage (literally) at the event venue from a design standpoint.
My job entailed designing backstage and event passes, interior design elements, and wall art based around the show and venue itself.
